I don’t miss any of this.
I lost my voice overnight once thanks to a bout of sinusitis and decided to take the day off and go to the doctor for some stronger meds. Bear in mind as an English teacher, the ability to speak is paramount.
I followed protocol as much as I could, leaving messages overnight on the emergency phone voicemail and emailing, LINE messaging the admin chain. Was still written up and asked to come in at once.
The next day I showed up still sick, still voiceless (carrying a mini whiteboard to communicate even) and coughing up my entire existence. Was told to go home and rest within 15 minutes. I also showed them the doctor note that said the same thing and they gonna ask me why didn’t I fax it to them in the beginning.
